Should I go on leave once I know the early stages of labor have started?

I was planning on going on leave once I started to go into labor like at the hospital.
But I was reading how the early stages of labor can last a few days or so. So do you think it would be a good idea that once I know I’m in the early stages of labor I should just take my leave, or is it not too big of a deal?

I say it depends on how well you handle the early stages of pregnancy. I have a friend who came to work the day she had her baby. That day and the day before she was at work having contractions but they were irregular so she didn’t want to go to the hospital yet. However, she’s a tough cookie. If you don’t handle the pain well you might want to stay at home.
Good luck!
Once your contractions become regular and are about 10 minutes apart…give the hospital a call to let them know and they will tell you when to come in. They told me to come in when they were about 7 minutes apart. Good Luck!!
my midwife and i talked about this, this morning she said as soon as you feel unsafe go to hospital you can always decide to go home for a while and come back
It sounds like you were talking about your maternity leave from work. Am I right? Everyone is talking about when you should go to the hospital, so if I am wrong then sorry. I think that once your labor starts at the hospital you are going to have to take your leave. They don’t admit you to the hospital unless you are about to have the baby. Usually they check to see if you are in active labor, and if not they send you home till you are. I would say that your plan is a good one, unless you get really uncomfortable leading up to your labor, then you may want to stay home earlier. Most women who do that end up on here complaining about the wait, and needing something to keep them occupied while waiting for the baby.
